16 Jun, 7.30pm:
Mexican recorder player Horacio Franco joins the Academy of St Martin in the Fields with a vibrant programme of Latin music. Franco has achieved an unprecedented reputation for his versatile and virtuosic recorder playing. In the UK premiere of Ana Lara's Concerto for recorder, he will even play two recorders at once! The remainder of the programme is equally dramatic and includes Ginastera's fiery Concerto for Strings, Villa Lobos' swooning Suite for Strings and Piazzola's lively Tangos. Before the concert, listen to new tangos composed by student groups (7.00pm – free with concert ticket). Concert tickets: £6, £8, £12, £16, £20.
