Find out about the race to the Pole at the National Maritime Museum

Find out how the sea has changed our daily lives in this impressive modern museum, and learn about the heroic Antarctic explorers Amundsen, Scott and Shackleton in the 'SOUTH – the race to the Pole' exhibition (until Sept 2001).

Enter the world of Nelson and see a recreation of the Battle of Trafalgar, his bullet-pierced coat and Turner's great memorial painting. Plot the growth of Britain's trade and empire and consider the development of Maritime London, 20th-century seapower, passenger shipping and luxury liners - as well as the ecology of the sea and its future. Test your skills in the interactive children's galleries.

ResCard holders are entitled to 20% discount on tickets. Joint ticket also available with the Royal Observatory.
